A high vitamin fermented cod liver oil that has been extracted without heat. It is rich in nutrients and vitamins A, D, E, and K. Because fermentation does not use heat, Blue Ice Cod Liver Oil is able to retain more nutrients, omega fatty acids, and enzymes. Fermentation also allows easier absorption and digestion of foods.

Fermented fish liver oil has been around for centuries and was considered a sacred food by many historical cultures. Roman soldiers were given a daily dose of fish oil and Scandinavian Vikings were known to keep a drum of fermenting fish livers outside their door. They relied on this sacred food for a strong, healthy body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Weston A. Price, the famous researcher who discovered "Activator X" and many other physicians have been recommending cod liver oil for the general health of babies, children, and adults for over a hundred years.

There are many studies suggesting that people who eat a high fish diet have a lower rate of heart disease. So it is believed that adding fermented cod liver oil to your diet may reduce your risk of coronary artery disease and heart attacks. And because cod liver oil is high in omega fatty acids, it may help to relieve the pain and inflammation of arthritis.

Green Pasture cod liver oil is cold processed in batches and then tested to maintain international purity standards to insure the freshness and taste of this outstanding, energy boosting oil.

The Alaska Cod is wild-caught in the Bering Sea along the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. Our partners fish for Alaska Cod in these pristine waters using a “Hook & Line” technique.

Throughout much of human history fermentation has been used to extract cod liver oil, and other fish oils. Recently Dr. Martin Grootveld’s research has found that this traditional method of extraction allows for natural antioxidants to be present and shields the fragile omega fatty acids.

Dr. Weston A. Price pioneered research into nutrition and oral health. He found that a traditional diet rich in nutrients had a beneficial effect on oral health.

Primitive Norse populations and ancient Romans consumed nutrient–rich fish oils extracted using fermentation. They knew of the health benefits found in these oils. Once vitamin D was found to be present in cod liver oil it became an important component of treatments against rickets.

Natural vitamin E is present in our Fermented Cod Liver Oil because of the nature of cod, and our extraction method.
