Out of Stock Is Frustrating, Less Than Perfect is Unacceptable

Our goal at Perfect Supplements has and always will be to provide you and your family with the  most nutrient dense, minimally processed, ethically & sustainably sourced, all natural superfood ingredients on the planet.

We totally understand how frustrating it can be when you find a Perfect product that you love and want to make part of your daily diet… only to find it is out of stock.

This article will be filled with a number of words, hopefully in some logical order ☺ but we want to make one thing very clear from the start…

It is our responsibility to keep products in stock and we do apologize for when products go out of stock.  No excuses, the buck stops here!

The point of this article is just to give more information for our curious customers, so let’s jump into it…

Why is The Perfect Product I Want Out of Stock?

There can be a number of factors on why a product goes out of stock.  Here are some of the primary reasons…

  1. Our ingredient supplier is out of stock
  2. Waiting on necessary lab testing and certifications to meet our standards
  3. Supply chain issues (waiting on bottles, caps, seals, etc)
  4. Raw Ingredient shipping delays (imported ingredient taking longer to clear customs)
  5. We underestimated demand

If the issue is #5, that is totally on us and we can immediately work to correct that.  Over the past few years we have become much better on predicting demand and more often than not, we have placed purchase orders for all the ingredients in our products months before they go out of stock.

If Your Ingredient Supplier is Out of Stock, Why Not Order From Someone Else?

For all of our ingredients we spend months (sometimes years) trying to find the Perfect supplier who can meet all of our very high standards.  Things like…

  • A wide array of lab testing for quality and safety
  • High Bio-availability
  • Solubility for powder products
  • Fair trade practices
  • Ethical growing and harvesting practices
  • All necessary GMPs (Good Manufacturing Procedures)

In most cases, we have only identified one source who can meet all of our standards.  This means we can’t just go to another source, because we would never sacrifice quality to get a product back in stock faster.

Why is it Taking Longer than Expected for the Product to Come Back in Stock?

As all of our products are all natural, we do need to rely on Mother Nature and let’s just say, she sure can be fickle at times!

For example, at the time of the writing of this article (July 2024), the Chlorella we were supposed to have in stock in May, then June, then July and now not until September, is being delayed because of what we affectionately call Mother Nature fickleness.

Our supplier explained that never seen before extreme climatic conditions from March - May (temperatures in Mar/Apr were consistently north of 105 degrees and in May there was heavy rain with intermittent sunlight ) has resulted in significant delays in growing Chlorella.

We do our best to give accurate estimates when an out of stock item will be back in stock, but Mother Nature seems to be doing a good job of making our estimates, at times, inaccurate. We do apologize for this as we know it effects your ability to plan accordingly.

Why Not Just Stock Up On More Ingredients So You Don’t Run Out of Products?

Excellent question… couldn’t have put it better myself ☺

Let’s try to answer this as honestly and transparently as possible…

Simply put, sometimes it is poor planning on our part.  We make projections on what we expect to sell over the next 6-12 months, and then those projections are inaccurate and we run out of stock.

When this does happen, we immediately order more of the ingredient, pay for rush shipping and readjust our planning so it doesn’t happen again.

A few years ago this situation was more common, but today it is pretty rare.  We have become better at projecting sales and also increased our ingredient orders across the board to always err on the side of having too much rather than too little.

So, what stops us from ordering enough ingredients to meet demand is usually two things…

  • Our ingredient supplier has only a limited supply, that meets our high standards
  • We want to keep our ingredients as fresh as possible

You are going to notice a recurring theme here.  We are trying to find that Perfect balance, keep products in stock, but also offer the highest quality and freshest, nutrient dense, natural ingredients.

If that balance gets a little off and we need to err on either having a product in stock or waiting and having the highest quality ingredients, we will go with the waiting for the highest quality ingredients everyday and twice on Sundays!

I Appreciate All This Info, But What Can I Do If The Product I Use and Love is Out of Stock?

    • Signup for the Wait List

      For any product that is out of stock, there will be a waitlist signup on the product page.  It looks like this -


      Definitely put your email in for each out of stock product you are interested in and you will get an email when each one is back in stock.

    • Reach Out to Customer Service To Check For Alternatives

      Always feel free to reach out to our awesome, 100% human, US based, natural food loving, generally awesome, and whole food nutrition geeks, customer service team!

      It may be they have suggestions on some in stock products that have a similar nutritional profile to the out of stock product you are waiting on.

    • When Your Product Is Back in Stock, Take Advantage of the Volume Discounts

      When we developed our pricing, our goal was to find affordable ways that allowed our customers to make our high quality supplements part of their daily routine.
      One of the primary ways we do this is though our volume discounts.  Buy any 3 Perfect brand products and save 20%, buy any 6 and save 25%.   Add our free shipping over $99 and the fact that if you don’t love any of our products, you can return them for a full refund (all the info here), and you start to see that stocking up saves you money, has no risk, and gives you extra supply, even if we run out.
